The Otto Bremer Trust awarded $47.3 million in grants and program-related investments in 2016 to more than 550 organizations in Minnesota, North Dakota and western Wisconsin.

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation named the American Red Cross as a recipient of a 2017 grant from the Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Fund. The Fund is dedicated to supporting innovative programs making a direct impact in the lives of America’s military and veteran caregivers.

CBDRx will give veterans groups Grow for Vets, Veteran Farmers Alliance, Colorado Veterans Association, My Compassion, and Trek2Freedom a large in-kind donation.

The MAXIMUS Foundation has distributed more than $566,000 in grants to 195 nonprofit organizations in 31 states as part of its fall grant cycle.

Beazer Homes partnered with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation for a second year to collect toys and raise awareness of the group’s mission to deliver hope to deserving children. The initiative resulted in a $10,000 donation for Toys for Tots, collected toys for over 2,000 children and spread awareness of the group’s mission through the Guess to Give Contest.

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN) and Foxwoods Resort Casino raised over $140,000 during the 2016 MPTN Giving Campaign, an annual fundraising effort to support community members in need. Local beneficiaries included United Way of Southeastern Connecticut and their partner agencies.

NIKE, Inc. began a partnership with PeacePlayers International and MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, expanding opportunities and support for youth and their communities.

Proteus Fund has appointed activist, advocate, nonprofit executive, and philanthropic leader Paul Di Donato as its new President and CEO. Paul has served as interim President of Proteus Fund for the past year and worked at the organization for more than nine years.

The third annual National Retail Federation (NRF) Foundation Gala took place January 15th, featuring a dinner and awards program that included both silent and live auctions. The event raised $2 million to support the NRF Foundation’s student scholarships and educational experiences for students, professors and people in retail.

K9s For Warriors has added Sergeant Major Bryan Battaglia, the nation’s former highest-ranking Senior Noncommissioned Officer, to its Resource Development team. 

On January 16th, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan presented the Zayed Future Energy Prize to nine winners during the 2017 awards ceremony in Abu Dhabi.

In recognition of the Andrew Grene Foundation‘s dedication to the people of Haiti, Irish charity the Haven Partnership have honored the Foundation with the William Jefferson Clinton Goodwill for Haiti Award.

On January 20th, the Friends of Mosaic Academy hosted its 2nd Annual Jubilee of School Choice to raise funds for the construction of a permanent educational facility for students.

A cure for Type 1 diabetes (T1D) in six years is the new goal of City of Hope’s Diabetes and Metabolism Research Institute. Through the generosity of the Wanek family and gifts from anonymous donors, the institution will be able to devote more than $50 million over the next six years to an innovative research effort that seeks to find a cure for T1D.

Barrett-Jackson helped raise funds for charities supporting U.S. veterans, children and medical research during the 46th Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction on January 14th-22nd. Proceeds will in part benefit Janie’s Fund.

The Parkinson’s Foundation selected John L. Lehr as chief executive officer following the recent merger of National Parkinson Foundation and Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. 

The AIDS United Access to Care initiative expanded access to  care to over 5,000 people living with HIV, exceeded national viral suppression rates by 27 percent and saved up to $8.83 in future HIV-related medical care for every $1 spent. 

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) appointed Doron F. Ezickson, an attorney, community volunteer, and former deputy chief of staff to former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld, as Director of ADL’s Washington, D.C. Regional Office.

Lourdes Rivera joined the Center for Reproductive Rights as the organization’s new Senior Vice President for U.S. Programs. Rivera most recently served as Senior Program Officer at the Ford Foundation.

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation announced 144 finalists in the third annual Knight Cities Challenge, a national call for ideas to make the 26 communities where Knight invests more vibrant places to live and work.

Debbie’s Dream Foundation President and Founder Debbie Zelman took part in the HER2 Gastroesophageal Cancer Evidence-Based Guideline Committee, which resulted from a collaboration between the College of American Pathologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. These organizations worked together to develop a clinical practice guideline to address appropriate testing of HER2/neu status in patients with gastric and gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma cancers.

The Next Mile Project and the Social Innovation Forum have merged their operations, creating one of the largest nonprofit ecosystems in the country focused on identifying, scaling, and championing social innovators.

During January, the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation‘s Community Engagement Program is partnering with Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative to collect and provide dental products to underresourced residents in Bergen County. 

Artivate is holding a benefit for the organization on February 12th in Bethesda Maryland.

The Johnny Mercer Foundation and American Music Theatre Project at Northwestern University is having its 12th Annual Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project and is accepting applications for songwriters aged 18-30 up until February 24. 

Psychic Source’s Kindness initiative will donate 1% of all current and future purchases to the the customer’s choice of three charities: Futures Without ViolencePaws with a Cause, or the National Center for Housing & Child Welfare

The Young People’s Chorus of New York City will host their 2017 Annual Gala on Monday, March 6th at 7 P.M.
