The Joel Lane Museum House, “The Birthplace of Raleigh,” will sponsor its 24th annual Independence Day Open House on Friday, July 4, 2015 from 11:00 am to 4 p.m. Admission is free, and donations are requested.

From June 12-14, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill participated for the second consecutive year in Alex’s Lemonade Days. This year Firebird’s goal was to raise $75,000 through this year’s sales.

Representatives of the Appalachian Theatre of the High Country, Inc.  officially kicked off the public phase to renovate and restore the Appalachian Theatre on King Street in downtown Boone.  The kickoff included an open house event with speakers, live music, food, and refreshments from downtown restaurants and merchants.

The Lucy Daniels Center would like to thank all of the runners, walkers, and volunteers for making the 2nd Annual Inside Out Run/Walk 5K a great success!  More than $25,000 was raised to benefit the Center’s Family Support Fund which bridges the gap between the actual cost of services and what families can afford to pay.

On Wednesday, June 17th, undocumented students and allies from across North Carolina will gather at the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh in an effort to work towards educational equity.
