This data shows that through innovative social marketing of contraceptive products and services, DKT delivered 44.6 million couple-years of protection (CYPs), the total estimated protection provided by contraceptives in a one-year period – an increase of 8 million CYPs more than in 2017.

Open Medicine Foundation has funded the establishment of a third Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) Collaborative Research Center at Uppsala University in Sweden. Selected fellows will have the opportunity to conduct research, mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research, and design new curricula, furthering collaborative academic exchange among Greek scholars worldwide.
mothers2mothers launched Children and Adolescents are My Priority (CHAMP) – a new program in Mpumalanga, South Africa. CHAMP aims to reach 57,000 orphans and other vulnerable children and adolescents per year, of those – a fifth will be children and adolescents living with HIV.
Emergency teams with the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières have started medical response activities in flood-affected parts of Mozambique following Cyclone Idai.
Following Cyclone Idai, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has launched a website for people to mark themselves as safe and to search for loved ones who may have done the same. Because many of the affected areas remain without power or access to the internet, the ICRC is working with the national Red Cross societies in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe to set up systems to register and search for missing people including unaccompanied and separated children.
Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) is partnering with long-term AWC supporters Julian and Alexandra Burt to deliver land management (controlled burning, feral animal control and weed eradication) and science across Bullo River Station in Australia’s remote Northern Territory. This partnership will help protect a suite of threatened, and also has the potential to be a catalytic model for wider application on commercial pastoral land.
